Þingvellir

Þingvellir is a national park in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland, about 40 km northeast of Iceland's capital, Reykjavík. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological significance, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland.

Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was home to Alþingi, the oldest parliament in the world. The park is also known for its stunning natural beauty, with its dramatic landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and unique geology.

Visitors to Þingvellir can explore the park's many hiking trails, go snorkeling or diving in the crystal-clear waters of the Silfra Fissure, or simply relax and enjoy the stunning views.

Golden circle

The Golden Circle is a popular tourist route in southern Iceland, covering about 300 kilometers looping from Reykjavík into the southern uplands of Iceland and back. The three primary stops on the route are the Þingvellir National Park, the Gullfoss waterfall, and the geothermal area in Haukadalur, which contains the geysers Geysir and Strokkur.

During wintertime in our cabin, you can see the northern lights. The northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are a natural light display in the Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions around the Arctic and Antarctic.
