Hi, we are Jórunn and Hörður the people behind the cabin 👋

It is now 4 years ago that we found a lakeside cabin for sale at a perfect spot by Þingvallarvatn, the cabin was old and unfortunately had to be torn down 😔 But we tried to replace it with something special, our new beloved cabin tries to embrace the old cabins features, a deck that stretches into the water and simplicity at heart.

It pays tribute to a time that was, turf homes was the building style of our ancestors and has kept Icelanders sheltered from our harsh nature for the thousand years the island has been inhabited. We tried tapping into that tradition and pay respect to the land we built the cabin on.

Now that our vision has come to life, we are so happy to share it with you ❤️
